| Although I know most of you dont look at it (I also dont ), the portal is often the first thing guests see when they find the site via searcing engines So it is important At the moment, it contains the topics of the sections movies in pre-production. What I'm planning to do is editing the first topics so they incluide at least a picture/poster or video trailers I have also included a widget of the Rottentomatoe site If you have any other ideas, please feel free

| is it possible that every week there is another movie review on the portal? One week its a comedy review, the next a B-movie and the week after a thriller or something? | |

| Well this part of the portal can only be done for one full category. So I can only assign for instance here movies in production, or comedy or dramas... So what we could do is creating a new category to the forum called "review of the week" where we can put them, the problem is that I dont think it is possible to copy topics, we can only move them. But think it might be possible to leave a trace when we move a topic. I will do a test to see But in any case, it wont be random, so I would need to choose a movie every week which is not a big deal, we could just vote or something? But I like the idea Edit: apparently when copying a topic, the trace only stays 24 hours | |

| I think it's a great idea to have a review of the week (not a movie of the week, there's too many mixed tastes I think)... We just move the topic too the special "Review of the week" category and move it back to its right place when the week is over...simple as adding 42354634 and 13413543 with a calculator! | |

| I have checked with Forumactif to see if there was not another solution but otherwise, yes, it's a good idea. But how should we decide which review to choose, should we vote? | |

| Maybe we can make a thread in which we quote a particularly nice review and if noone comes up with a better one that's the one? If someone does come up with another good review, we can always vote. I think this way, we can keep it all tidy, neat and clear | |

| mmm, yes, I dont know, I think it would be more fair to have people vote, then it gives all reviews an equal chance we can create a topic beginning of each week as a poll including all the movie reviews from the past week and people vote one as the review of the week Or not?
Edit: but then again, it would mean we dont show the ones that have already been done in the past, which is also a shame...

| It's WAAAY too complicated to do it like that I think...
And all reviews HAVE an equal chance, they just have to be quoted by someone who likes it!
If people do not agree that the first review quoted that week in the thread is the best one, they can always quote another one and THEN we can have a show of hands...

| yes but the problem with the quoted is that it will appear in red on the portal. I think what should appear in the portal should not be quoted | |

| That's not what I mean...
My proposal is to have a thread to "vote" for the Review of the Week, but instead of making a HUGE poll with all the latest threads, I think it's way easier to have someone quote their favourite review. If someone disagrees that the first review quoted that week in the thread is the best, they can post their own favourite review. Then people can have a vote, but only if it's neccesary...
When the Review of the Week is chosen, one of us can move it to the Review of the Week section and place last week's Review of the Week back where it belongs...By it I mean the Review itself, not the thread in which it is chosen, that remains in place

| yes, that was how i understood it already... seems like a good plan to me!
but i think you dont even have to move to review to the review of the week section and move it back again, but you can just copy paste it and the week after you replace it with another one...

| Think the idea of moving is better as that way the name of the person who did the reviews shows So yes, this looks like a plan Although I'm not certain that lots of people will participate in choosing their favorite reviews (when they would participate more with a poll) But ok | |

| To be frank; who cares? When I write a review, I like to make it at least readable and maybe a bit funny, and try to at least get the point why I like or dislike a movie across. I don't think that people who write reviews like "Liked it 5/10" (which we don't have I think) will change their style of reviewing, and I know I won't... If people want to compete, let them, I'm not joining them | |

| Shouldn't we restrict the choices? For instance, one week a comedy review, another time horror, asia, or B movies....? | |

| Why? I think it's a restriction that puts the focus on something else than the quality of the review... | |

| Another thing which we should improve is the welcoming message, at the moment, we only have "Welcome to the MovieFreaks Community" It would be nice to have something a bit better (that we could also use for the facebook page) and represents what we are (movie addicts mainly), something refreshing but I'm running out of ideas... some of you have a much better english than mine I'm open to any suggestion... | |
