!ANIMATIONMANIA! offers a broad insight into the rich past and an exploration of the exciting present of independent European animated cinema.
Two days of shorts and feature films. From classics like master animator Jan Svankmajers' "Faust", to a selection of shorts from the legendary Zagreb Film studios. From classic Dutch stop-motion animation like "Paulus de Boskabouter" and "De Fabeltjeskrant" to the wild surrealist cinema of the Quay Brothers. Contemporary Dutch animation from the iL Luster catalogue and new talent from Hungary, Denmark and Estonia!

18.00 - Eyes on iL Luster - selection of shorts Home to Netherlands' prime animation talent, iL Luster is of one the leading production and distribution companies in the field of contemporary Dutch animation. An especially for !ANIMATIONMANIA! compiled peak into the archives, by the people of iL Luster themselves.
20.00 - Renaissance - (Christian Volckman . 2006 . Fr.) Set in a dark and menacing Paris anno 2054. Featuring stunning black and white animation, "Renaissance" tells the intriguing story of a mysterious kidnapping in the world of high finance and shady underworld connections. Six years in the making and using some of the most advanced animation technology in the world today, Christian Volckman has created a masterpiece of modern cinema.
22:00 - Princess - (Anders Morgenthaler . 2006 . Dan.) Brilliant Japanese style animation with flashbacks in live action. "Princess" tells the story of an unchained priest who seeks violent and bloody revenge against the porn underworld after his sister, erotic starlet Princess, died therein.

18.00 - Frank & Wendy (Jancis/Pikkov/Tender . 2005 . Estonia) Hilarious, offbeat tale about two weird American secret agents battling it out with the axis of evil in, of all places, Estonia!
20:00 - The District - Aron Gauder (Aron Gauder . 2004 . Hun.) Virtouso film brings Romeo and Juliette to Budapests' drugs, hookers, corrupt cops and hip hop invested 8th district. | sounds nice too bad it's during the filmfestival, which means 16 hours a day shifts at my work I'm afraid hopefully I can sneak away to catch some films | |
