God I have just GOT to see this movie!

Couldn't help myself and downloaded it...the quality was SOOOO poor though that I refrained from seeing it...I'll wait for the DVD

It will be difficult to beat [REC] - excellent movie

But looking at the trailer it just doesn't gives me the same "woua I want to see it" that I had with [REC]
But I wont judge with just a trailer so will see it

Okay, I just saw it. (I will take a moment now and bask in the gloating. I saw it. You didn't. )

But seriously... meh. Kind of disappointed. Don't feel like writing a full review now (I just watched 3 movies back to back.), but i'd say 6/10.

What the fuck did I watch? It's like day of the dead just met Hello Kitty..
It's not just predictable.. It's been done, a thousand times. Every aspect was predictable.. Mostly to the extent that I thought: "Didn't I see this in another movie? I'm sure I did. Wait, I think this is gonna happen next. Oh wow, that just wasn't funny at all.."
It kind of felt like George saw The Zombie Diaries and thought: "Little kids trying to be like me, I'll show them how it's done" and totally missed the point. Not only that, facing the wrong way, blindfolded and struck with a heart attack.
Where is the tension? Where's the excitement? And, more importantly, where the fuck are the hordes of zombies? Sure, it doesn't have to e like 2004 DotD, but a bit over 50 would be nice.. I admit I went in to this with the wrong expectations. I thought this would be a kind of sequel or even prequel to say, dawn of the dead or day or even night. Instead we get a stand-alone film. Ok, nothing wrong there.

Why did this movie suck?
1. Zombie count. Little under 50. What the fuck. Sure, day of the dead had less then a hundred, only Day had suspension. It spoke on your primal fears. Alone and trapped in a house, with little to no prospect of rescue, let alone survival.

2. It's like George wanted to make a statement about fast zombies. Ok, fair enough. With all the fast zombies lately I can imagine that one would want to defend his point of view.
2.1 The only problem is that it's kind of retarded to point out in the beginning of your own movie that a slow zombie could never ever ever catch a walking man, only to let your actors be eaten alive. Sort of kills the whole emotional bonding with said actors, 'cause to be frank I can't sympathize with someone who's too stupid to push a zombie backwards and casually walk away.
2.2 Slow zombies don't run up to someone and jump on their back.

3. It's more like a road movie. 70% of the movie is spend on the road, in a kind of camper. Going from campus to whateverthehellthistownis-ville.

4. The point of view handy cam aspect is, well, new-ish. It's just that it's hard to believe that you would watch how your best friend get eaten alive, just so that you would have something to show when the whole zombie invasion thing is over.

5. Since when do zombies care who they eat? In one shot a zombie walks past the camera guy (avoiding even, not to bump in to him) just so he can get his 2 seconds of fame by biting someone on front of the camera. He's just shot of saying "Hi mom!" and waving at the camera.

6. The special effects are appalling.

7. The acting is dodgy

8 I could go on and on.

All of the above could have been excused, forgotten or overlooked even if only the movie felt right. Night of the dead, dawn of the dead and day of the dead all had the above, and it didn't matter, because the felt right. They had the suspense, the feeling that all was lost. You could feel the desperation and hopelessness. You could sympathize with the actors. This movie just doesn't cut it. It's like George thought whatever I do is fine because I'm the zombie king. And I never thought I'd say this but.. George fucked up. It's not like Land of the Dead, where the big time executives messed with the movie. This one is all George, and he just fucked it up..

A real shame..


5/10.. And that's me being nice..

To be fair, it's watchable. It just doesn't live up to the expectations you've come to take for granted with George..

I saw it yesterday and I liked it.

It might not be as good as the other ...of the Dead films by Romero, but I really enjoyed it, even though I missed the ending because of some unforseen circumstances...

It's a zombie movie, and zombie movies score a 8/10 at least...

So I grant: 8,2/10!

I saw it again yesterday, and with low expectations, it's quite enjoyable. Not great, not bad. Just average.

I think this movie is the worst of the year, really.
I rated it 2/10 in my blog.
