| Has anyone seen it yet? Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite writers, having written such greats as Neverwhere, American Gods, Anansi Boys and lot's of short stories. He wrote the Sandman comics as well. So now they made a movie out of Stardust (which just arrived at my place in bookform) and I'd like to know if the movie's any good The cast is quite good (Robert de Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer) and since it's written by Neil Gaiman, I'm not afraid the story will suck So, again, has anyone seen it already? | |

Special effects are stunning! And Michelle Pfeiffer kicks ass! | |

| George's Secret Key to the Universe, by Lucy and Stephen Hawking...It's a children's book about space Really funny and it's very educational (not the space part, I know all that already, but I'm reading this because I want to see what level of English is proper for children from 7 to 11 ) | |

| Ok, saw it yesterday The special effect are indeed very good that I liked But there are also some things I didn't like The characters are a bit simple, cliches and too cheesy. They dont have much charisma and I didn't really get attached to any of them... There are some good ideas but not pushed further which makes the whole thing a bit flat in my opinion Somehow it is lacking something, not sure exactly what but a bit desapointing... And I didn't read the book.... Would give it a

| Allright...I finally watched it yesterday... The movie in itself is very entertaining, though a quite shallow (especially when you've read the book). It's a shame they didn't use the idea of the market on the other side of the wall properly, it would've made some things easier to understand. The death of the witch in a kind of final battle is something I really didn't like, in the book this happens in a very different way, which would make the story a LOT clearer as well...In the end, I think I'd have liked the movie more if the accent had been more on the magical, fairytale side and less on the "let's make an actionpacked fantasy movie" side. The acting is OK, not very bad, but no really well done stuff either. Captain Shakespeare was great though The soundtrack is what people have come to expect from a movie marketed as Fantasy, orchestral soundtrack stuff that is, it sounds good though and fits the movie like a glove. The special effects are indeed nicely done, they really blend into the movie (most of the time ) All in all, keeping in mind that I should review this film as a movie on its own, not as an adaptation of the book, I rank this movie 7.2/10 It's a nice movie to watch, but not too special... If you're looking for a great, magical, book to read, read Stardust by Neil Gaiman! | |
