It's Hogswatch (equivalent to Christmas) on the Discworld and the Hogfather has gone missing, requiring Death to take his place while his granddaughter Susan endeavors to find out what has happened.
Hogfather is a series of two 1,5 hour episodes which add up to a whole film. It's an adaptation of the novel bearing the same name, by Terry Pratchet.
I liked the film a lot and will try to expand on the howcomes below, trying to keep on friendly terms with Zeehond here
OVERALL FEELING: Great humour, which is to be expected in an adaptation of a Terry Pratchet novel of course. The wizards are very funny, not like you'd expect a wizard at all. Death standing in for the Hogfather is really great as well, the paradox of it resulting in some funny remarks ("Let's sleigh them" )
ACTING: Some roles were better played than others, I liked the performance of Michelle Dockery as Susan the most I think, she really transformed a role in a person, very strong (but natural) facial expressions. I liked Marc Warren as Teatime less, his performance was, in my opinion, based too much on gimmicks (the weird laughing for example) and at points didn't feel entirely in sync with the rest of the movie.
EFFECTS: Pretty good CGI, the Toothfaerie Castle was done very nicely, as was Death (the times he wasn't just a guy with a mask).
SOUNDTRACK: Just your avarage orchestral film score. Nothing special, but nothing out of place either.
OVERALL FEELING: 8/10 ACTING: 7.5/10 EFFECTS: 7.5/10 SOUNDTRACK: 7.5/10 ----------------------------- Which adds up to 7.6/10

Yeah, I liked this. Michelle Dockery as Susan was good, and I actually kind of liked that they didn't replace Death with a full CGI character. Okay, the mask could have been a bit less , well, masky, but still. Ridcully was quite different than from what I had in my head though, as well as a few other characters, which is always kind of a bummer. But all in all, quite enjoyable. Better than 'The Colour Of Magic' (the other recent Pratchett adaptation).
Oh, and if anyone is considering the cartoons: really, don't bother. They're awful (from what I have seen).
