The storyline of Trigun revolves around Vash the Stampede and is set on the planet Gunsmoke, which strongly resembles the Wild West. He's being chased by an enormous variety of bounty hunters, because of the huge bounty on his head.
The series starts of with a very humoristic approach, which changes to a much darker outcome towards the end of the series.

The wacky characters, the superb action scenes and the very cool overall feeling of the series make this one of my favourite anime series of all time.
