It had been too long. So when I felt like watching another movie this afternoon, I picked Alien.
For those of you who've never seen Alien, I'll summarize some of the plot. An interstellar freight ship's crew is awoken before they are home, because the ship's computer is picking up a signal. The crew crash-lands on the planet the signal origines from and having to wait for the repairs to finish, decide to check out where the signal comes from. After a short walk, they find a crashed spaceship, which they enter, only to find thousands of alien eggs. One of the crew goes to investigate and an egg hatches, after which the poor man is assaulted by the creature which comes out of the egg. Against orders, the assaulted guy (who now has an alien attached to his face) and the people who went with him, are let into the ship. The alien eventually comes off and dies. Everything seems alright until The attacked man suddenly dies because a little alien bursts from his chest and escapes into the huge ship. From here, the fun starts!
Alien is a very good scifi movie, which surprisingly, being made in 1979, doesn't look and feel dated at all (except for the archaic computer screens maybe ). It's production design and special effects (the alien is designed by H.R. Giger by the way) are very good and the cinematography (especially the angles chosen to film from during encounters with the alien) is awesome.
9/10!

and the H.R. Giger designed Aliens are the most impressive in SF history!!!

Well I can't get enough of the movie(s)
They are disgusting and creepy.
In the extra's the writers of alien said they where scared to go to Giger

The little ones remind me of the Killer Kondoms (which were designed by Giger as well )
I really dig the whole atmospheric horror / scifi combo
