Deathrace 2000.
I might say that the title of this movie says it all, but that is only partly true.
The story takes place in the year 2000 and is about a cross continental race across the United States. Everything is allowed and running over pedestrians even scores you points! (Watch this if you ever wondered where SCI got its ideas for Carmageddon from )
The racer Frankenstein (David Carradine) is the most popular contestant in the Trans Continental Race (as it's officialy called). The film follows the racers while they race, slaughter and party for three days and nights. The rest of the awesome story is ready to be discovered by anyone who hasn't seen this pearl of a movie before.
The acting is quite OK, not brilliant. Which is to be expected if you take a good look at the cast (Sylvester Stallone for instance). The special effects are true to the genre, or let me rephrase that, are awesomely far out and mondo! Great vehicles, nice (not very gory) splatter effects, really cool accelerated shots of the driving. The plot is thin, but the right kind of thin to be really great!
The best thing though, is the humour. A really cool kind of dark(ish), "we don't care what you say" kind of humour. Contestants running over the personell of a geriatric facility on "Euthanasia Day" and more of that
This movie is so much fun to watch, and such an enormous cult-hit (justly so BTW) that I rate it a minimal 9.5/10, could have been a 10/10 if the hot 70's chicks had been naked the whole movie instead of minor parts of it
