It had been a great while since I'd watched this movie, so when I was looking for a movie to watch yesterday, I picked K-PAX.
What's it about?
Prot is arrested by the police because they think he's a lunatic. He is assigned to Dr. Mark Powell, a psychiatrist, who is baffled by the knowledge Prot seems to have about...well...everything...As Prot's treatment carries on, Dr. Powell begins to believe Prot's claims that he is from K-PAX, a planet revolving around some obscure binary solar system. Is Prot an alien? Or is he just a lunatic?
What did I think of it?
First of all, it's directed by Iain Softley, the same guy who directed Hackers. This is noticable in small ways, like the cinematography of certain parts of the movie. It gives the film a recognizable framework. It stars Kevin Spacey as Prot, a role Spacey plays VERY well in my opinion. The rest of the acting is good as well, but not exceptional. There are not so much special effects, it's not that kind of movie. It really doesn't need them anyway The soundtrack is allright, nothing special. Storywise, it starts of very good, and keeps good a long time, though towards the end, I was having a bit of trouble with it. Especially the ending is very...well...It's a bit too simple...
Would I recommend it to someone else?
Yeah, I would. I think it's an entertaining movie with lots of things to wonder about. You can easily watch it with some friends and a few beers around, or just watch it by yourself, it's a fine movie.

I think K-Pax is a really really nice movie, with extraordinary shots. I watched this movie 4 years ago, but I can still remember a lot about the story and the nice shots. Big fan of Kevin Spacey (maybe it's in the name)
I wouldn't recommend this movie to my friends only when they're also filmfreaks...they'll just think it is a weird movie!

I think it's quite accesible actually...
A good introduction maybe to movies that actually have a storyline and don't need that much special effects to keep their head above water

Really nice movie indeed. Its some time ago that I saw this so I cant remember the details. But i do remember Kevin Spacey was great. I also agree that this movie is quite accessible but some people just don't like anything that is different or (slightly more) difficult.

That's true...
(for these people, I'd like to propose special camps, in which to lock them up, taking them out of society )

Ha ha ha, I have tried that, at a smaller scale. For a long time, everyone who would enter my place would have to watch the weird movies I have, they just had no choice. I have converted a few, traumatised the others But that's always worth it sometimes people have to learn the hard way
I haven't seen this one yet btw (yes I know: shame on me )
